Is this our shot at removing the Iranian Regime?

At least eight people have been killed and a former foreign minister  arrested during another day of violent protests in Tehran, various media inside and outside of Iran report.

Is it possible that this is our best shot at removing the current tyrants in power? Could this be instrumental in keeping Israel out of an Iranian conflict?

Protestor Attacks Police in Iran

Boy, those Iranians are sure quaking in their boots as a result of the tough rhetoric and threats of sanctions.

In their latest act of defiance, Iranian president Ahmadinejad went as far as to say, “The international community can give Iran as many deadlines as they want, we don’t care.”

Ahmadinejad dismissed the threat of sanctions, saying Iran wants talks “under just conditions where there is mutual respect.”

“We told you that we are not afraid of sanctions against us and we are not intimidated,” he said, addressing the West. “If Iran wanted to make a bomb, we would be brave enough to tell you.”

“This nuclear game thing is an old story, it’s history now,” the Iranian leader said, as the crowd cheered: “We love you, Ahmadinejad.” He lashed out at Washington, vowing Iran will stand up against U.S. attempts to “dominate the Middle East.”

What Should Obama Do About Iran?

The Obama administration has warned Iran to take the deadline over their nuclear very seriously. However, there is a much better chance of Obama sending a note to Santa saying “Please stop Iran”, than any other meaningless threats causing any impact. If you ask me, it is almost as if Ahmadinejad actually looks forward to these deadlines so he can thumb his nose at the west.

The Obama administrations stellar track of negotiations continued this week when Iran and its leader, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, announced plans to expand the country’s nuclear program. The United States has painted itself into a grim picture by neutering its ability to successfully wage a physical campaign against the rogue country. In my opinion, the next shoe to drop will be an Israeli air strike in an effort for self preservation.

Iranian official says decision to expand nuclear program is response to IAEA rebuke

A top Iranian nuclear official said Monday that the country’s decision to build 10 more uranium-enrichment sites is a direct result of  last week’s move by the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency). To make thinks worse, the facilities will be built and housed inside mountains to protect them from military attack.

The head of Iran’s parliament, former nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani, accused Western nations of “haggling,” “lying” and “cheating” during talks over Iran’s nuclear program. Larijani also questioned the usefulness of the IAEA, the U.N. international watchdog agency, and the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), which calls for curbing the spread of nuclear weapons but encourages member countries to share peaceful nuclear technology.

The plan to build 10 new enrichment sites was announced Sunday by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The move, which was broadly condemned in Europe and by Russia, would constitute a dramatic expansion of Iran’s nuclear program and would inevitably fuel fears that Iran is attempting to produce a nuclear weapon.

Iran not Concerned about Isolation due to Nuclear Activities

U.S. officials reacted cautiously to the announcement on Sunday. White House press secretary/spin wizard Robert Gibbs said that Iran’s plans, if carried out, “would be yet another serious violation of Iran’s clear obligations under multiple U.N. Security Council resolutions and another example of Iran choosing to isolate itself.” However, what Mr. Gibbs didn’t explain was how the United States and its allies would retaliate, as the isolation of Iran doesn’t seem to phase the rogue country.

“Who can isolate Iran? This is something that’s impossible,” Ahmadinejad said in an interview on state-run Press TV late yesterday. “The most strategic part of the world is the Middle East.”

Iran, with the world’s No. 2 oil and natural gas reserves, is already under three sets of United Nations Security Council sanctions over its nuclear program. Ahmadinejad’s Cabinet has ordered scientists to begin building 10 uranium-enrichment sites within two months in defiance of UN demands, state-run media reported earlier this week.

Appeasement and Talks sure as hell aren’t working

Well, the Iran situation is anything but cut and dry. However, the diplomatic attempts at a solution sure as hell aren’t getting the job done. The only thing that Iran, and much of the Muslim world respects to unabated force. Well within reach of Iranian missiles sits Israel, the wolverine-like country hell bent on survival. the Israelis know that the clock is ticking on their own personal Armageddon and will not sit idly by.

Iran Knows Israel will Attack

As a result, Iranian media say the military has begun large-scale air defense war games aimed at protecting the country’s nuclear facilities from attacks from the Israelis.

A military official says the drills will last five days and will cover 600,000 square kilometers in parts of central, western and southern Iran.

Brigadier-General Ahmad Mighani told Iran’s Fars news agency Saturday the drills involve Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards and other military units.  He said the exercises simulate a real attack on Iran’s nuclear installations.

Iran often holds military exercises to show its readiness to fight perceived threats to its controversial atomic program.  The United States and Israel have not ruled out military action if diplomacy fails to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue.

The head of the Revolutionary Guards’ air force Amir Ali Hajizadeh said Sunday that if Israeli fighter planes managed to escape from Iran’s air defense system, Iran’s military would strike Israeli bases with surface-to-surface missiles.

On Saturday, a top Islamic cleric, Mojtaba Zolnour, warned Iranian missiles will target the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, should Israel attack Iran.

Zolnour, a representative of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to the Revolutionary Guard, made the remarks to state media.
