Why did 3 Democrats Change their Mind on Healthcare?
Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln said she will vote today to bring her party’s healthcare bill to the floor, following a colleague, Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu, to the Senate floor to announce her decision. The third senator, Nebraskan Ben Nelson, on Friday had announced his support for full debate.
Why did these Senators Change their Mind?
In what is just an absolutely typical move by self serving politicans, you may need to follow the money to find out why these senators changed their minds…..and don’t think that they are doing it because of the good of the country.
ABC News reports that Louisiana senator Mary Landrieu, one of the last Democrats holding out on supporting Senate majority leader Harry Reid’s health-care legislation, has sweetened Louisiana’s slice of Obamacare by $100 million (via disaster-relief dollars) in a little-noticed provision on page 432 of Reid’s bill. Landrieu, of course, is not doing anything to hide this $100 million allocation. If anything, she’s proud of it. It’s “something she has been working on for a long time,” says Robert Sawicki, Landrieu’s press secretary.
Not all of Landrieu’s colleagues, however, are quite so happy about it. One reason: The $100 million provision was hammered out behind closed doors on Thursday in Reid’s office

Why can’t laws get passed without the practice of Pork Politics? Does every single politician have to benefit personally or receive some sort of funding for their state? When did we loose sight of the fact that we are the United States of America, not a compilation of 50 self serving territories?
Does anyone realize that this spending is putting us in a precarious financial position as a country? The Chinese already own a trillion dollars of our bonds as a result of the recent spending binge. I fear that the healthcare package could be just as bad, if not much worse….
After all, when was the last time that a government program succeeded with less money than was initially intented?
